Sign in to HBO Max
Already have an HBO Max account? Great! Here's how to sign in.
Choose the device you're using:
Still need help? Go to Can't sign in to HBO Max.
Here's how to sign in to the HBO Max app:
Open HBO Max and choose Sign In.
Already signed in? Choose your profile (upper right) and then Sign Out.
Enter your HBO Max account email or mobile number, and choose Continue.
Do one of the following:
Email address: Enter your password and choose Sign in.
Mobile number: Open the text message that was just sent to your mobile number and enter the 6-digit verification code. Didn't get a text message?
Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.
Need to switch accounts? To sign in to a different HBO Max account, choose your profile (upper right) and then Sign Out. Once signed out, choose Sign In.
Note You can add your mobile number or email to your account as an additional sign-in method. To find out how, go to Change account info.
Troubleshooting
How are you trying to sign in?
If your account has an email and password, try signing in without your password. Here's how:
When prompted for your password, choose Get One-Time Code.
Check your inbox for an email sent by HBO Max (email subject: Time Sensitive: Your One-Time HBO Max Code). This email should arrive within a few minutes. Be sure to search all inbox folders (including Promotions, Junk, and Spam). Didn't get the email?
Enter the 6-digit code from your email.
If prompted, add or update the password for your account.
Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.
If your account has a mobile number, here are some things to try:
Make sure the mobile number you entered is correct. If you didn't use your mobile number when you created your account, you'll need to add your mobile number to your account before you can sign in with it.
Try signing in with your account email and password (if added). For help finding your account email, go to Find your account email.
If you're signing in with your mobile number, you should get a new text message after entering your mobile number. If you didn't get a text message, try the following:
Make sure the mobile number you entered is correct. If you didn't use your mobile number when you created your account, you'll need to add your mobile number to your account before you can sign in with it.
Choose Get New Code to send another text message. You should get a new text message within a couple minutes.
Make sure your phone can receive text messages (check your cell phone signal strength and make sure Airplane mode is turned Off).
Make sure your phone is not set to block messages from unknown senders.
Try restarting your phone.
Still need help? Try signing in with your account email and password (if added). For help, go to Find your account email.
Make sure your account has an active HBO Max subscription. For help with this, go to Fix a subscription issue.
If you get a 'Your device time is out of sync' error on your phone or tablet, make sure the date and time are correct on your device. For help, go to Google's Set date & time article or Apple's iPhone: Change time or iPad: Change time article.
Sometimes we'll ask you to solve a puzzle to help keep your account secure. If you're having trouble with the Captcha puzzle challenge, choose Restart to start the challenge over.
You can also choose Audio Challenge to access your account another way.

Go to HBOMax.com/login on your computer.
Already signed in? Choose your profile (upper right) and then Sign Out.

Here's how to sign in on your TV device:
Open HBO Max and choose Sign In.
Already signed in? Choose the Settings icon
(lower left) and then Sign Out.
Now, choose a TV sign-in option:
Scan the QR code on your TV to sign in. Here's how:
Stay on the TV screen with the QR code while you grab your phone or computer.
Do one of the following:
Open your phone's camera and point it at the QR code on your TV, then tap the link that appears on your phone. You'll be signed in automatically if you're already signed in to HBO Max on your phone.
-or-
Go to HBOMax.com/signin and enter the 6-digit code from your TV. You'll be signed in automatically if you're already signed in at HBOMax.com.
Enter your HBO Max account email or mobile number, and then choose Continue.

TV code not working?
If the 6-digit code isn't working, here are some things to try:
Open a private or incognito browser window and then go to HBOMax.com/signin.
Try signing in another way (e.g. choose Use HBO Max Mobile App).
Try using a different supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari).
If your account has an email and password, sign in on your TV using your email address. Here's how:
On the TV sign-in screen, choose Use Email Address (on the left).
Enter your HBO Max account email and choose Continue. To open the on-screen keyboard, move the selection to Email Address and press the select button on your remote.
Do one of the following:
Check your inbox for an email sent by HBO Max (email subject: Time Sensitive: Your One-Time HBO Max Code) and enter the 6-digit code from your email. This email should arrive within a few minutes. Be sure to search all inbox folders (including Promotions, Junk, and Spam).
Choose Use Password Instead, then enter your account password and choose Sign In.
Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.
If your account has a mobile number, sign in on your TV using your mobile number. Here's how:
On the Sign In screen, choose Use Mobile Number (on the left).
Enter your mobile number (with area code) that's associated with your HBO Max account, and then choose Continue.
Enter the 6-digit code sent to your mobile number, and then choose Submit.
Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.
To sign in to a different HBO Max account, choose the Settings icon (lower left) and then Sign Out.
