Change an Apple-billed subscription
If you're billed through Apple, here's what you need to know about changing your Apple-billed subscription.

Apple billing Q&A
If you can't find HBO Max in your Apple subscriptions, it may be because:
- You subscribed through another provider. Who's billing me?
- You're signed in to another Apple Account. Make sure you're signed into the Apple Account used to purchase your subscription. For more help, go to Apple's Can't find subscription article.
- In HBO Max, do one of the following:
- Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose your profile and then Subscription.
- TV device: Choose the Settings icon
and then Subscription.
(Only Adult profiles can manage subscriptions.)
- Find your current plan. Explore HBO Max plans.

Need help signing in? Go to Can't sign in.
Your subscription automatically renews on your next billing date. Here's how to find your next billing date:
- On your iOS device, open the Settings app.
- Choose your name and then choose Subscriptions (if prompted, sign in to your Apple Account).
- Choose your HBO Max subscription and find your next billing date.
- Your HBO Max subscription automatically renews until you cancel it.
- Deleting the HBO Max app does not cancel your subscription.
- Cancel your subscription at least 24 hours before your next billing date to avoid further charges.
Here's how to cancel your Apple-billed subscription:
- On your iOS device, open the Settings app.
- Choose your name.
- Choose Subscriptions (if prompted, sign in to your Apple Account).
- Choose your HBO Max subscription and then Cancel Subscription.
- On your Apple TV, choose Settings > Users & Accounts and then [account name] Subscriptions.
- Choose HBO Max and then Cancel Subscription.

Once canceled, you should get an email from Apple confirming your cancellation. You can continue streaming until your subscription expires at the end of your billing period.
You can resubscribe to HBO Max at any time.
Here's how to change your Apple Account payment method:
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
- Choose your name.
- Choose Payment & Shipping (if prompted, sign in to your Apple Account).
- Choose the payment method you want to change and then edit your info.

You can change your plan or billing period on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV.

- Choose Subscription and then Change Plan.
- Choose a subscription plan and billing period.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to change your plan through Apple.
Once your subscription is updated, you should get an email from Apple confirming the change.

When will my plan change take effect?
The effective date depends on the change:
- If you change to a lower-priced plan, your plan change will happen on your next billing date.
- If you change to a higher-priced plan, your plan change happens immediately. Apple will refund you for the remaining days on your subscription plan and charge you for your new plan. Your next billing date will be adjusted.
If you're getting a 'Subscription Paused' message, it may be due to a payment error.
To resume your subscription, update your Apple payment method. Here's how:
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
- Choose your name.
- Choose Payment & Shipping (if prompted, sign in to your Apple Account).
- Choose the payment method you want to change or choose Add Payment Method to add a new payment.
