Activate your HBO Max subscription
CANAL+ offer? If you recently signed up for a CANAL+ offer that includes HBO Max, go to Activate HBO Max with CANAL+.
New subscription? If you recently signed up for HBO Max (or HBO) through an internet, mobile, or TV provider, you need to activate HBO Max before you can start streaming HBO Max.
There are two ways to activate HBO Max:
- Activation link: If your provider gave you activation instructions, follow the Activation link steps.
- Connect your provider: If you don't have activation instructions, follow the Connect your provider steps.
Activation link
If you received activation instructions when you signed up for HBO Max, follow the instructions to activate your HBO Max subscription.
Then on the first HBO Max screen, do one of the following:
To create your HBO Max account:
- Enter an email address for your HBO Max account and choose Continue.
(If you previously had HBO Max, follow the Returning subscribers steps below.) - Complete the Create Your Account form and choose Create Account. You’ll sign in with this info.
- Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to stream.
Now, you can sign in on any supported device using your HBO Max email and password.
To link your new subscription to your existing HBO Max account, do the following:
- Enter the email address for your existing HBO Max account and choose Continue.
- Check your inbox for an email from HBO Max with a one-time code (email subject: Your One-Time HBO Max Code).
- Enter the code from the email.
- Confirm that you want to connect the subscription billed through your provider to your existing HBO Max account.
- Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to stream.
Now, you can sign in on any supported device using your HBO Max email and password.
Didn't get the one-time code email?
- Search all of your inbox folders for an email from HBO Max (including your Promotions, Junk, and Spam folder).
- Choose Get New Code on the enter code screen and check your email again.
Connect your provider
If you didn't get activation instructions when you signed up for HBO Max, follow these steps:
- On your phone or computer, go to HBOMax.com/login.
- On the sign-in screen, choose create an HBO Max account (below Don't have an HBO Max account yet?).
- Choose the company you get HBO Max (or HBO) through or search for your provider.
My provider isn't listed
Signed up via Prime Video?Select Prime Video and sign in to your Amazon account. Then, skip to Step 5. - Complete the Connect Your Account form and choose Submit.
Need help? Go to Troubleshooting. - To create your HBO Max account, do one of the following:
New subscribersTo create your HBO Max account:
- Complete the account form and choose Create Account.
- Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to stream.
Now, you can sign in on any supported device using your HBO Max email and password.
Returning subscribersTo link your new subscription to your existing HBO Max account, do the following:
- On the Create Your Account screen, enter your HBO Max account information and choose Create Account.
- On the Account Found screen, choose Verify Email Address.
- Check your inbox for an email from HBO Max with a one-time code (email subject: Your One-Time HBO Max Code). The email is sent to the email address you entered on the Create Your Account screen.
- On the One-Time Code screen, enter the code from the email and choose Submit.
- Confirm that you want to connect the subscription billed through your provider to your existing HBO Max account.
- Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to stream.
Now, you can sign in on any supported device using your HBO Max email and password.
Didn't get the one-time code email?
- Search all of your inbox folders for an email from HBO Max (including your Promotions, Junk, and Spam folder).
- Choose Resend One-Time Code on the enter code screen and check your email again.
Troubleshooting
- Make sure HBO Max is included with your internet, mobile, or TV package. To do this, sign in to your TV, internet, or wireless account on your provider's website and make sure HBO Max is included. If this doesn't help, contact your internet, mobile, or TV provider for help.
If you get this message, try the following:
- Double check your provider info on the Connect Your Account screen.
- Make sure your internet, mobile, or TV provider account includes access to HBO Max.
If this doesn't help, contact your provider to confirm your account info and your access to HBO Max.
If you get this message when connecting your provider, it means you already connected your provider account. To start streaming, sign in with your HBO Max email and password.
If you're not sure which email is associated with your HBO Max account, go to Find your account email.
