HBO Max account sharing
HBO Max accounts are intended for the account owner (the person who created the account) and the people they live with.
If you don't live with the account owner, you need to sign up for your own HBO Max account. For more info, go to How do I subscribe to HBO Max?
Extra Member Add-On
WarnerMedia-billed subscribers can share their HBO Max plan with someone who doesn't live with them. For more info, go to Extra Member Add-On.
You can share your HBO Max account with the people who live with you (the people in your household).
People who don't live with you (including family members who don't live with you), need to sign up for their own HBO Max account.

If you don't live with the HBO Max account owner, you may get a message suggesting you transfer your profile to your own account. If you get this message, you have two options:
If you live with the account owner, verify your account by following these steps:
- Choose This is My Account.
- Choose Send Code.
If your email address isn't associated with the HBO Max account, you'll need to complete these steps with the account owner. - Check your inbox for an email from HBO Max with the subject: Your One-Time HBO Max Code. This email should arrive within a few minutes. Be sure to search all inbox folders (including Promotions, Junk, and Spam).
- Open the most recent One-Time Code email and enter the code from the email.
If the code doesn't work, choose Get New Code to get another code emailed to you.
Now you can continue streaming HBO Max.
If you don't live with the account owner, you can subscribe to HBO Max and transfer your profile to your own account. Here's how:
- Choose Subscribe Now.
- Choose a subscription plan and continue.
- Complete the account form and choose Create Account. You'll sign in with this info.
- Add your payment method and start your subscription.
- Choose Start Streaming and then select your profile.

To determine which devices are considered part of your household, we use account and profile information along with a combination of network and device information (including IP addresses, device IDs, and user activity) chosen at our discretion.
