You can subscribe to the HBO Max & RTL+ Bundle to get access to both services for a discounted bundle price in Germany.

The HBO Max Premium plan and Sports Add-On are not available with either of the HBO Max & RTL+ Bundle options.

*On HBO Max, channels, live content & replays (where included in your plan) contain ads. All plans may contain sponsorship and Cross-Promotional Content. On RTL+, advertising in live streams, radio streams, podcasts, advertising at the side of the running player and advertisements outside the player.

What can I watch?

The HBO Max & RTL+ Bundle options give you access to HBO Max and RTL+ for a discounted price. With the bundle, you can sign in to HBO Max and RTL+ and stream each service on a supported device.

Can I watch HBO Max and RTL+ content on the same app?

No, each service has its own content offering. Sign in to the app you want to stream to find content available on that app.

You may need to activate your account before you can sign in and stream.

How do I get the bundle?

Already have HBO Max or RTL+? Go to How do I switch to the Bundle?

How you get the bundle depends on whether you've subscribed to HBO Max or RTL+ before:

New bundle subscriber
Current HBO Max or RTL+ subscriber?
If you have an existing HBO Max subscription, go to How do I switch to the bundle? Current RTL+ subscribers should switch to the bundle via RTL+.

Sign up on the web

You can sign up for the bundle on the web through HBO Max or RTL+.

Here's how to sign up for the bundle at HBOMax.com:

  1. Go to HBOMax.com/bundle/rtl-plus and choose HBO Max Basic with Ads and RTL+ Premium or HBO Max Standard and RTL+ Premium Werbefrei.
  2. Note The HBO Max Premium plan and Sports Add-On are not available with either HBO Max & RTL+ Bundle option.
  3. Enter an email address for your HBO Max account. Looks like you have an existing subscription message.
    Already have an account? Enter the email address associated with your HBO Max account
  4. Do one of the following:
    • New subscriber: Complete the account form and choose Create Account. You'll sign in to HBO Max with this info.
    • Returning subscriber: Enter your HBO Max password and choose Sign In.
  5. Add your payment info and start your subscription.
  6. Choose Set up RTL+ to set up your RTL+ account.

Now you can sign in and stream HBO Max on any HBO Max supported device. Your subscription will continue until you cancel.

If you haven't set up your RTL+ account, go to Activate my accounts and choose Signed up at HBOMax.com.

How did you sign up for the bundle?

If you signed up for the bundle at HBOMax.com, you'll need to activate your RTL+ account. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to HBO Max on your phone, tablet, or computer. Can't sign in?
  2. Choose your profile and then Subscription.
    (Only Adult profiles can manage subscriptions.)
  3. Choose Set up RTL+ to set up your RTL+ account.

Signed up via RTL+

If you signed up for the bundle through RTL+ at my.plus.rtl.de/buchen, you'll need to activate your HBO Max account. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to RTL+ at my.plus.rtl.de on your phone, tablet, or computer and go to your profile.
  2. Choose Activate HBO Max Account.
  3. On the first HBO Max screen, enter an email address for your HBO Max account and choose Continue.
  4. Get the 6-character code from the text message or email sent by HBO Max (email subject: Time Sensitive: Your One-Time HBO Max Code). The message should arrive within a few minutes.
  5. Enter the 6-character code from the text message or email. If prompted, fill out the account creation form and choose Create Account. Code not working?
  6. Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to watch HBO Max.

If you don't activate your HBO Max account when you sign up for the bundle, RTL+ will send you a reminder email with activation steps.

How do I switch my current subscription to the bundle?

If you have an existing HBO Max or RTL+ subscription, here's how to switch to the bundle. We recommend that you sign up using your existing HBO Max or RTL+ subscription.

Things to know

  • You can sign up for the HBO Max & RTL+ Bundle on the web directly through HBO Max or RTL+. You can manage your subscription at any time.
  • If you don't want multiple subscriptions, make sure to manage any existing subscriptions.
  • The HBO Max Premium plan and Sports Add-On are not available with the HBO Max & RTL+ Bundle.
If you subscribe to only HBO Max

First, find out who bills you for HBO Max:

Here's how to find who bills you for HBO Max:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Web: Go to HBOMax.com/subscription and sign in to your account. Can't sign in?
    • Phone, tablet, or computer: In HBO Max, choose your profile and then Subscription.
    • TV device: In HBO Max, choose the Settings icon (cog, lower left) and then Subscription.
  2. Find who your subscription is billed through (top of screen).

Choose who bills you for HBO Max and follow the instructions:

HBO Max (Discovery Communications Benelux B.V.)

You can change your HBO Max plan to the bundle. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to HBO Max on your phone, tablet, or computer. Can't sign in?
  2. Choose your profile and then Subscription.
    (Only Adult profiles can manage subscriptions.)
  3. Choose Change Your Plan.
  4. On the Bundles tab, choose HBO Max Basic with Ads and RTL+ Premium or HBO Max Standard and RTL+ Premium Werbefrei and continue.
  5. Review your plan change and choose Confirm & Pay Now.
  6. Choose Set up RTL+ to set up your RTL+ account.

The plan change takes effect immediately and your next billing date will be adjusted. You'll be charged for the HBO Max & RTL+ Bundle and Discovery Communications Benelux B.V. will apply a credit for any time that remains from your previous subscription plan.

App store (Apple, Google, Roku, Samsung)

You can sign up for the HBO Max & RTL+ Bundle on the web (directly through HBO Max or RTL+). To switch to the bundle, manage your existing app store subscription. You can manage your subscription at any time.

Note If you don't want multiple subscriptions, make sure to manage any existing HBO Max or RTL+ subscriptions you may have through an app store or internet, mobile, or TV provider.

Internet, mobile, or TV provider

You can sign up for the HBO Max & RTL+ Bundle on the web (directly through HBO Max or RTL+). To switch to the bundle, manage your existing app store subscription. You can manage your subscription at any time.

Note If you don't want multiple subscriptions, make sure to manage any HBO Max or RTL+ existing subscriptions you may have through an app store or internet, mobile, or TV provider.

If you subscribe to HBO Max or RTL+

First manage your HBO Max subscription or your RTL+ subscription. You can manage your subscription at any time.

Note Your new bundle subscription will not automatically replace your existing subscription(s). If you don't want multiple subscriptions, you can go back and select a new plan or manage your existing subscriptions.

Troubleshooting

Can't sign in after subscribing?

If you can't sign in to HBO Max or RTL+ after subscribing to the bundle, your account may not be activated.

If you signed up for the bundle at HBOMax.com, here's how to activate your RTL+ account:

  1. Sign in to HBO Max on your phone, tablet, or computer. Can't sign in?
  2. Choose your profile and then Subscription.
    (Only Adult profiles can manage subscriptions.)
  3. Choose Set up RTL+ to set up your RTL+ account.

Signed up via RTL+

If you signed up for the bundle through RTL+ at my.plus.rtl.de/buchen, you'll need to activate your HBO Max account. Here's how:

  1. Go to RTL+ on your phone, tablet, or computer, sign in, and go to your profile.
  2. Choose Activate HBO Max Account.
  3. On the first HBO Max screen, enter an email address for your HBO Max account and choose Continue.
  4. Get the 6-character code from the text message or email sent by HBO Max (email subject: Time Sensitive: Your One-Time HBO Max Code). The message should arrive within a few minutes.
  5. Enter the 6-character code from the text message or email. If prompted, fill out the account creation form and choose Create Account.
  6. Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to watch HBO Max.
Looks like you have an existing HBO Max subscription message

If you get this message, you can choose from 2 options:

  • Continue to Purchase: If you complete your bundle purchase, your new bundle subscription will not automatically replace your existing HBO Max subscription. If you don't want multiple subscriptions, you can select a new plan or manage your HBO Max subscription.
  • Go Back to HBO Max: This option takes you back to your active subscription. To sign up for the bundle, first manage your active HBO Max subscription.
One-Time Code not working?

If your one-time code isn't working, get a new code. Here's how:

  1. On the Enter the One-Time Code screen, choose Get New Code.
  2. Open the most recent One-Time Code email and grab the new code.
  3. Enter the 6-character code from your email and choose Submit Code.
  4. Enter a password and continue.
  5. Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to watch HBO Max.

If this step doesn't work, here are a few more things to try:

  • Search all of your email accounts for an email from HBO Max.
  • Be sure to search all inbox folders (including Promotions, Junk, and Spam).

Once you find the email account associated with HBO Max emails, get a new code and check this email address.
