Pay Per View on HBO Max
HBO Max subscribers can purchase Pay-Per-View (PPV) events on select devices. Once purchased, you can watch PPV events on any supported device through HBO Max. When you purchase a PPV event on HBO Max, you get exclusive replay access to the event for a limited time.
'AEW: All Out' is the first pay-per-view event on HBO Max. More AEW PPV events are coming to HBO Max.
You'll find live and upcoming PPV events on HBO Max:
- On the Home screen
- In Sports (top of screen)
- By searching 'Pay Per View', 'PPV', or the title of the event
Replays: To find available replays of all the PPV events you've purchased, choose the My Stuff icon and then go to My Purchases. When you purchase a PPV event on HBO Max, you get exclusive replay access to the event for a limited time.
Prices vary by event. To find the cost, choose the event in HBO Max and find the Watch for [Price] text (prices don't include applicable taxes).
You can purchase PPV events at HBOMax.com or through the HBO Max app.
What you need
- An active HBO Max base plan subscription
- A device that supports PPV purchase
- An accepted payment method

Steps to purchase
- In HBO Max, find the PPV event you want and choose Watch for [price]. PPV events can be purchased on most supported devices. For more info, go to Unsupported devices for PPV purchases.
- Review the event details then choose Continue.
- Do one of the following:
- Choose your payment method and then enter the security code (CVV) from your card.
-or- - choose Edit and enter a new payment method.
Note New payment methods are used for a one-time PPV charge and won't be saved to your account.
- Choose your payment method and then enter the security code (CVV) from your card.
- Choose Confirm & Pay Now.
You'll be charged the PPV event price plus applicable taxes. A receipt will be sent to your HBO Max account email.
When the event is live, go to the event page and choose Watch Live.
PPV events are billed separately from your HBO Max base plan subscription. PPV events purchased at HBOMax.com are billed by WarnerMedia Direct LLC. PPV events purchased via the HBO Max app are billed by the on-device app store (e.g., Apple, Roku).
Note PPV events that you've purchased can't be downloaded.
PPV events can't be purchased on the following devices:
- Cox Contour
- Cox Contour Stream Player
- VIZIO Smart TV
- Xfinity X1/Flex
- Xumo Stream Box
- Xumo TV
You can watch your purchased PPV event on any supported device.
To watch a purchased event, choose the event and then Watch Live. If an event hasn't started yet, you'll see the scheduled start time and an option to Add to My List.
- Player controls: You can pause, fast forward, rewind, and jump to the live moment using the Go Live button. For more info, go to HBO Max Player controls.
- Devices: PPV events can be streamed on any supported device.
- Quality: Depending on your device, you can watch PPV events in up to HD 1080p with SDR and Dolby Atmos audio.
- Captions: To turn closed captions on or off, choose the Audio and Subtitles icon
in the video player. Live event captions are available in English and are slightly delayed. To find out how to change the caption styling (e.g., font and size), go to Subtitles, captions, and audio.
Yes, you can watch replays of PPV events you've purchased. To find available replays of PPV events you've purchased, choose the My Stuff icon and then go to My Purchases. Here you'll find the available replays of all the PPV events you've purchased.
If you missed the live event, you can purchase access to the replay for up to 2 weeks after the event.
If you're going to miss watching a PPV event purchased through us (HBOMax.com) contact us before the event starts.
If you purchased the PPV event through another provider, go to Can I get a refund?
PPV events may be rescheduled or canceled at any time. If a PPV event you've purchased through HBO Max is canceled or rescheduled, you'll receive a notification in HBO Max along with an email.
If you purchased a PPV event through us (HBOMax.com) and it is canceled or rescheduled:
- Rescheduled: If you are not able to view the PPV event at the rescheduled time and would like to request a refund, please contact us.
- Canceled: We will refund the amount paid.

Troubleshooting
If you get this message, it means the PPV event can't be purchased through your subscription provider (the company who bills you for HBO Max).

If you can't purchase a PPV event, make sure that:
- You have an active HBO Max base plan subscription
- You're using an Adult profile
- You're signed in to an account with an active HBO Max subscription.
- You're using an accepted payment method.
- You're using a device that supports PPV purchases.
- Your provider supports PPV purchases.
PPV events can't be purchased on the following devices:
- Cox Contour
- Cox Contour Stream Player
- VIZIO Smart TV
- Xfinity X1/Flex
- Xumo Stream Box

If you've purchased a pay-per-view event but can't watch it when the event is live, check the following:
- You're signed in to the correct HBO Max account.
- You're using an Adult profile.
- You have an active HBO Max base plan subscription.
Here's how to review your pay-per-view purchases:
- Do one of the following:
- Web: Go to HBOMax.com/subscription and sign in to your account. Can't sign in?
- Phone, tablet, or computer: In HBO Max, choose your profile and then Subscription.
- TV Device: In HBO Max, choose the Settings icon
and then Subscription.
- Scroll down and choose Pay-Per-View Purchases. Here's you'll find a list of your PPV purchases.
