Install the HBO Max app
The HBO Max app is available in the app store on the following supported devices.
Which device are you using?
Choose your phone and tablet:
From the Home screen of your Amazon Fire device, choose Apps, and then search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose the download option.
Open the Play Store app on your Android phone or tablet and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose the download option.
Installing HBO Max from somewhere other than the official Google Play app store is not supported.
Open the App Store on your Apple device and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose the download option.
Once installed, open HBO Max and sign in. Or, if you need to sign up, see Sign up through an app store.
Computer browser (Mac, PC, and Chromebook)
You don't need to download an app. Instead, open a browser on your computer and go to HBOMax.com. Then, in the upper-right corner choose Sign In or Subscribe.
Choose your TV device:
From the Home screen of your Amazon Fire device, choose Find and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose the download option. Once installed, open HBO Max and sign in or select Choose a Plan.
Open the Play Store on your Android TV and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose:
- Subscribe & install: Starts a new HBO Max subscription and installs the HBO Max app.
- Install: Just installs the HBO Max app. You can choose to subscribe at another time.
The HBO Max app is supported on Google Play and Dolby certified devices installed via the official Google Play app store. Installing HBO Max from somewhere other than the official Google Play app store is not supported.
Open the App Store on your Apple TV and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose the download option. Once installed, open HBO Max and sign in or select Choose a Plan.

Press the Home or Contour button on your Cox voice remote, then select Apps, and then select HBO Max. Now, you can sign in and start streaming. Or, if you need to sign up, see Subscribe through Cox.
On your LG Smart TV, go to the LG Content Store search for HBO Max. Then, select the HBO Max app and choose Install. Once downloaded, open HBO Max and sign in. Or, if you need to sign up, see How do I sign up?
If HBO Max is not in the LG Content Store, your LG Smart TV may not be supported. For a list of supported LG Smart TV models, go to HBO Max on LG Smart TV and choose Device Compatibility. Then, sign in with your LG User ID to see if your TV is compatible.
PlayStation 4: Go to the PlayStation Store and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose Download. Once downloaded, open HBO Max and sign in. Or, if you need to sign up, see How do I sign up?
PlayStation 5: On your PlayStation 5, go to Media > All Apps and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose Download. Once downloaded, open HBO Max and sign in. Or, if you need to sign up, see How do I sign up?
On your Roku streaming device, go to Streaming Channels > Search Channels and enter HBO Max. Then select HBO Max and choose Add Channel. Once downloaded, open HBO Max and sign in or select Choose a Plan.
Open the Smart Hub, choose Apps, and search for HBO Max. Then, select and download HBO Max. Once downloaded, open HBO Max and sign in or start your subscription.
Not all Samsung TV models are supported. For a list of supported Samsung TV models, go to HBO Max on Samsung TV and choose Compatible devices in the upper-right corner.
Press the Home or V button on your remote, select Apps, and then select HBO Max. Now you can sign in and start streaming. Or, if you need to sign up, see How do I sign up?
Go to the Store on your Xbox console and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose Install. Once downloaded, open HBO Max and sign in. Or, if you need to sign up, see How do I sign up?
Press the Home button on your XClass TV remote, then select Apps, and then select HBO Max. Now, you can sign in and start streaming. Or, if you need to sign up, see How do I sign up?
Press the Home or Xfinity button on your Xfinity voice remote, then select Apps, and then select HBO Max. Now, you can sign in and start streaming. Or, if you need to sign up, see Subscribe through Xfinity.
Other ways to stream on your TV
If you don't have one of the devices listed above, here are some other ways to stream on your TV:
- Chromecast: Cast HBO Max from your phone, tablet, or computer to your TV.
- AirPlay: Stream HBO Max to your AirPlay 2-compatible device.
- HDMI cable: Connect your computer, phone, or tablet to your TV.
