Which devices work with HBO Max?
The following devices are supported by HBO Max.
Choose a device type
The following phones and tablets are supported:
- Android phones and tablets (with Android OS 5 or later)
Install: On your Android phone or tablet, open the Play Store and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose the download option.
Installing HBO Max from somewhere other than the official Google Play app store is not supported. Huawei phones and tablets are no longer supported.
Sign in or sign up: Open HBO Max and choose Sign in or Choose a Plan.
- Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch (with iOS 12.2 or later)
Install: On your Apple device, open the App Store and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose the download option.
Sign in or sign up: Open HBO Max and choose Sign in or Choose a Plan.
The following computers are supported:
- PC with Windows 7 or later
- Mac with macOS X 10.10 (Yosemite) or later
- Google Chromebooks with Chrome browser version 95 or later
The following web browsers are officially supported:
- The latest version of Chrome or Firefox
- The latest version of Microsoft Edge for Windows
- Safari version 12 or later
You can stream HBO Max on a variety of browsers. For the best experience, use an officially supported browser.
To stream on your computer, go to HBOMax.com and sign in (upper right). Or, if you need to sign up, choose Subscribe
The following TV devices are supported:
- Android TV with Android OS 5 or later
This includes most Sony Android TVs (2015 models and later) and Chromecast with Google TV.
Install: On your Android TV, open the Play Store and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose one of these options:
- Subscribe & install: Start a new HBO Max subscription and install the HBO Max app.
- Install: Installs the HBO Max app.
The HBO Max app is supported on Google Play and Dolby certified devices installed via the official Google Play app store. Installing HBO Max from somewhere other than the official Google Play app store is not supported.
Sign in or sign up: Open HBO Max and choose Sign in or Choose a plan.
- Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD with the latest tvOS software

Install: On your Apple TV, open the App Store and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose the download option.
Sign in or sign up: Open HBO Max and choose Sign in or Choose a plan.
- 4KIP and 4KQAM models
Press the Home button on your Claro Box TV remote, then go to Apps and select HBO Max. Now, you can sign in. Or, if you need to subscribe, see How do I sign up?
- LG Smart TV with web OS 3.5 or later
Install: On your LG TV, open the LG Content Store and search for HBO Max. Then, select the HBO Max app and choose Install. If HBO Max is not in the LG content store, your LG TV may not be supported.
Sign in or sign up: Open HBO Max and choose sign in. Or, if you need to sign up, see How do I sign up?
- PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
Install
- PlayStation 4: Go to the PlayStation Store and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose Download.
- PlayStation 5: On your PlayStation 5, go to Media > All Apps and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose Download.
Note The HBO Max app is not available on PlayStation in Caribbean countries.
Sign in or sign up: Open HBO Max and choose sign in. Or, if you need to sign up, see How do I sign up?
- Roku streaming devices (with Roku OS 10.0 and later)
Install: On your Roku device, go to Streaming Channels > Search Channels and enter HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose Add Channel.
Sign in or sign up: Open HBO Max and choose Sign in or Choose a plan.
- Samsung TV (2016 models and later)
To find out if your Samsung TV is supported, open the Smart Hub on your Samsung TV, choose Apps, and search for HBO Max.
Install: On your Samsung TV, select Apps, and then search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose Install. If HBO Max is not in the Samsung app store, your Samsung TV may not be supported.
Sign in or sign up: Open HBO Max and choose Sign in or select Choose a Plan.
- DIW362, VSB3940, and DIW377v models
Press the Home button on your Totalplay TV remote, then go to Apps and select HBO Max. Now you can sign in. Or, if you need to subscribe, see How do I sign up?
If HBO Max is not available in Apps, then your Totalplay device may not be supported.
- Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
Install: Go to the Store on your Xbox console and search for HBO Max. Then, select HBO Max and choose Install.

Other ways to stream on your TV
If you have the Standard plan, here are some other ways to stream on your TV:
- Chromecast: Cast HBO Max from your phone, tablet, or computer to your TV.
