How do I switch subscription plans?

HBO Max subscriptions are available through many providers (your provider is who you signed up through or who bills you for HBO Max). Some providers offer the following plans:

  • Ad-Free
  • With Ads

Which plan do I have?

Here's how to find out which subscription plan you have:

  1. Open HBO Max or sign in to HBOMax.com on your computer. Can’t sign in?
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Phone or tablet: Tap the Profile icon (bottom edge on phones, left edge on tablets), then the Settings icon (upper left), and then tap Subscription.
    • Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Samsung TV, Spectrum WorldBox, Xbox: Choose your profile (upper left) and then choose Account.
    • Other TV device: Choose the Settings icon (lower left), then choose Account.
    • Computer: Choose your profile (upper right) and then Subscription.
      (Subscription information is only available for Adult profiles).
  3. Here you can see your current plan: Ad-Free or With Ads.

How do I switch plans?

Depending on your provider, you may be able to switch your subscription plan. First, find out who your subscription is billed through. Here's how:

  1. Open HBO Max or sign in to HBOMax.com on your computer. Can’t sign in?
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Phone or tablet: Tap the Profile icon (bottom edge on phones, left edge on tablets), then the Settings icon (upper left), and then tap Subscription.
    • Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Samsung TV, Spectrum WorldBox, Xbox: Choose your profile (upper left) and then choose Account.
    • Other TV device: Choose the Settings icon (lower left), then choose Account.
    • Computer: Choose your profile (upper right) and then Subscription.

'Can't switch plans yet' message

This message may appear if:

  • You tried to make two back-to-back plan changes.
  • Our plan service is offline.

Please wait 15 minutes and then try to switch your plan again.
