Sign in with HBO Max account

There are two ways to sign in:

  1. Sign in with a provider
  2. Sign in with an HBO Max account (see below)

If you get HBO Max with your TV package, internet service, or wireless plan, see Sign in with a provider.

Which device are you using?

Here's how to sign in on your phone or tablet:

  1. Open the HBO Max app and then tap the Profile icon Profile icon (bottom edge on phones, left edge on tablets).
  2. Tap Sign in to your account.
    If you're already signed in, tap the Settings icon (upper-left), then scroll down and choose Sign Out.
  3. Enter your account email and password and then choose Sign in. Need help? See Can't sign in.
    TV, Internet, or Wireless Package?
    If you get HBO Max with your TV, internet, or wireless package, see Sign in with a provider.
  4. Choose your profile and you're ready to stream.

Here's how to sign in at HBOMax.com:

  1. Go to HBOMax.com on your computer and choose Sign In (upper-right).
    If you're already signed in, choose your profile (upper-right) and then choose Sign Out.
  2. Enter your account email and password and then choose Sign in. Need help? See Can't sign in.

    If you get HBO Max with your TV, internet, or wireless package, see Sign in with a provider.
  3. Choose your profile and you're ready to stream.

Here's how to sign in on your TV:

Apple TV
  1. Open HBO Max on your TV and then choose the Profile icon in the upper-left corner.
  2. Choose Sign In. If you're already signed in, see How do I sign out?
  3. Enter your account email and password and then choose Sign In.

    TV, Internet, or Wireless Package?
    If you get HBO Max with your TV, internet, or wireless package, see Sign in with a provider.
  4. Choose your profile and you're ready to stream.
Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, PlayStation, or Roku
  1. Open HBO Max on your TV and then choose the Profile icon in the upper-left corner.
  2. Choose Sign In. If you're already signed in, see How do I sign out?
  3. Roku: If you get a subscription found message, see the section below.
  4. Enter your account email and password and choose Sign In. Need help? See Can't sign in.

    To open the keyboard, press the OK button on your Roku remote or the X button on your PlayStation controller.

    If you get HBO Max with your TV, internet, or wireless package, see Sign in with a provider.
  5. Choose your profile and you're ready to stream.

We found your subscription in Roku Pay message

If you get this message do one of the following:

  • Sign In: We found your subscription billed through Roku and you just need to sign in. Choose Sign In and enter your account email and password. Need help signing in? See Can't sign in.
  • Create Account: We found your subscription billed through Roku, but your account is incomplete. Choose Create Account to finish creating your account. Once your account is complete, you can sign in on other devices.
Other TV device

Cox device, LG Smart TV, Samsung TV, Spectrum WorldBox, VIZIO Smart TV, Xbox, XClass TV, or Xfinity device

  1. Open HBO Max on your TV and then choose the Profile icon in the upper-left corner.
  2. Choose Sign In. Stay on the screen with the 6-character code while you grab your phone or computer. If you're already signed in, see How do I sign out?
  3. Open a browser on your phone or computer and in the address bar, type hbomax.com/tvsignin. You should see an Enter Code page (https://activate.hbomax.com).
    Xbox Consoles
    You can use your phone to scan the QR code on your TV.
  4. Enter the 6-character code that appears on your TV and then choose Next. Code not working?
  5. Enter your account email and password and then choose Sign In. Need help? See Can't sign in.

    If you get HBO Max with your TV, internet, or wireless package, see Sign in with a provider.
  6. Once your TV updates (this may take a minute), you're ready to stream.

Code not working?

Where do I enter the code?

On your phone or a computer, open a new web browser window. In your browser's address bar type: https://hbomax.com/tvsignin. This takes you to an Enter Code page (https://activate.hbomax.com) where you can enter the 6-character code from your TV.

Code doesn't work or is invalid

Here are some things to try:

  • Make sure you're on the correct page (activate.hbomax.com) when you enter the 6-character code from your TV.
  • Try using a different browser: Chrome, FireFox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.
  • Get a new code. To do this, go back and choose Sign In again on your TV.
  • Try using a computer instead of your phone (go to activate.hbomax.com and enter the code from your TV).
  • Clear your browser data. Here's how:
    • iPhone: On your iOS device, go to Settings > Safari, then scroll down and tap Clear History and Website Data. To learn more, go to Clear Safari.
    • Android phone: Try clearing your Chrome browsing data on your Android device. To find out how to do this, see Clear cache & cookies.

HBO (HBO NOW) Subscribers
  • Eligible HBO (HBO NOW) subscribers must agree to the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy for the HBO Max platform.
  • Your previous settings (such as My List, Continue Watching, and parental controls) are not available in HBO Max.
