Sign in with a provider

If this is your first time signing in and you get HBO Max through a TV, internet, or wireless provider, use these sign-in steps.

Already Have an Account?
If you already have an HBO Max or HBO GO account, see Sign in with email and password.

Which device are you using?

Here's how to sign in on your phone or tablet:

  1. Open the HBO Max app and then tap the Profile icon (bottom edge on phones, left edge on tablets).
  2. Tap Sign in to your account.
    If you're already signed in, tap the Settings icon (upper-left), then scroll down and choose Sign Out.
  3. Tap Sign in with a Provider.
  4. Tap who you subscribe through (your provider). If you're using a tablet, tap View All Providers and then choose your provider. I don't see my provider
  5. Enter the username and password for your provider account that includes HBO Max. Can't sign in?
    Can't Verify Your Subscription
    Make sure your provider account includes access to HBO Max. To do this, see Step 2: Can't verify your subscription.
  6. On the Create Your Account screen:
    • New to HBO Max? Complete the form and then choose Create Account.
    • Already have an account? Enter your existing account email before choosing Create Account. Then, on the Account Found screen choose Verify Email Address. If you need help with this, see Account Found: Link account.
  7. Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.

Limited access? This message means your provider doesn’t support HBO Max. You can still stream all of HBO. For more info, see ‘Limited access’ message.

Here's how to sign in on your computer:

  1. Go to HBOMax.com on your computer and choose Sign In (upper-right).
    If you're already signed in, choose your profile (upper-right) and then choose Sign Out.
  2. Choose Sign in with a Provider.
  3. Choose who you subscribe through (your provider). If you don't see your provider, choose View All Providers and then select your provider. I don't see my provider
  4. Enter the username and password for your provider account that includes HBO Max. Can't sign in?
    Can't Verify Your Subscription

  5. On the Create Your Account screen:

Android TV, Apple TV, PlayStation, or Roku
  1. Open HBO Max and then choose the Profile icon in the upper-left corner.
  2. Choose Sign In. If you're already signed in, see How do I sign out?
  3. Choose Sign in with a Provider. Stay on the screen with the 6-character code while you grab your phone or computer.
  4. Open a browser on your phone or computer and in the address bar, type hbomax.com/tvsignin. You should see an Enter Code page (https://activate.hbomax.com).
    Apple TV
    You can use your phone to scan the QR code on your TV.
  5. On the Enter Code screen, enter the 6-character code that appears on your TV and then choose Next. Code not working?
  6. Choose who you subscribe through (your provider). If you're using a computer or tablet, choose View All Providers and then select your provider. I don't see my provider
  7. Enter the username and password for your provider account that includes HBO Max. Can't sign in?

Other TV device

TV devices: Claro Box TV, LG Smart TV, Samsung TV, Xbox

  1. Open HBO Max and then choose the Profile icon in the upper-left corner.
  2. Choose Sign In. Stay on the screen with the 6-character code while you grab your phone or computer.

  3. On your phone or computer, type https://hbomax.com/tvsignin in your browser's address bar. You should see an Enter Code page (https://activate.hbomax.com).
  4. Enter the 6-character code that appears on your TV and then choose Next. Code not working?
  5. Choose Sign in with a Provider.

Code not working?

Where do I enter the code?

On your phone or a computer, open a new web browser window. In your browser's address bar type: https://hbomax.com/tvsignin. This takes you to an Enter Code page (https://activate.hbomax.com) where you can enter the 6-character code from your TV.

Code doesn't work or is invalid

Here are some things to try:

  • Make sure you're on the correct page (https://activate.hbomax.com) in Step 3 above. Choose this link: activate.hbomax.com and then enter the code from your TV.
  • Try using a different supported browser: Chrome, FireFox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.
  • Get a new code. To do this, go back and choose Sign In again on your TV.
  • Try using a computer (instead of your phone). On your computer, go to activate.hbomax.com and then enter the code from your TV.
  • Clear your browser data.
    • iPhone: On your iOS device, go to Settings > Safari, then scroll down and tap Clear History and Website Data. To learn more, go to Clear Safari.
    • Android phone: Try clearing your Chrome browsing data on your Android device. To find out how to do this, see Clear cache & cookies.
HBO GO Settings
Your HBO GO settings, such as your Watchlist and recently watched list, will not be available in HBO Max.
