Can't link my provider subscription

If you don't have an account and you get HBO Max through a TV or mobile provider, complete the Link provider steps.

If you can't link your TV or mobile provider subscription, try these steps:

Check your account info

If you're getting a 'Please check your account info' message, try these steps:

  • Go to your provider's website for information about how to link your subscription to an HBO Max account or try the Sign in with a Provider steps.
  • Make sure your TV package or mobile plan includes HBO Max. To do this, sign in to your provider account (on your provider's website) and make sure HBO Max is included.

Provider account is already registered

If you get this message it means your subscription is already linked to an account. To start streaming, sign in to HBO Max.

Try device troubleshooting

What device were you using when you chose Sign in with a Provider on the sign-in screen?

iOS phone or tablet

Try the following:

Delete and reinstall
  1. Delete the HBO Max app from your iOS device. To find out how, go to Apple's Delete an app article.
  2. Open the App Store and install the HBO Max app.
  3. Open HBO Max, choose Sign In, and then Sign in with a Provider.
  4. Enter your provider account info and choose Submit.

Once you link your subscription, you can sign in on any supported device using your HBO Max email and password.

Android phone or tablet

Try the following:

Clear cache and reinstall

Clear the app cache and data, then uninstall and reinstall. Here's how:

  1. On your Android device, go to Settings (or on older Android versions, go to Settings > Applications > Application Manager and find HBO Max).
  2. Tap Search and type HBO Max.
  3. Tap HBO Max (App Info) from the search results.
  4. Tap Storage & cache.
  5. Tap Clear Storage (and confirm deletion), then Clear cache.
  6. Tap back and then tap Uninstall.
  7. Open the Play Store and search for HBO Max. Once found, select it and tap Install.
  8. Open HBO Max, choose Sign in and then Sign in with a Provider.
  9. Enter your provider account info and choose Submit.

Once you link your subscription, you can sign in on any supported device using your HBO Max email and password.

TV device

Update your browser
  • Make sure you're using a supported browser.
  • Check to see if there's an update available for your browser. To find out how to do this, search the internet for update + the name of your browser (i.e. update Chrome).

Once you link your subscription, you can sign in on any supported device.
