Enhanced HBO Max is here
Enhanced HBO Max is now available. Here's what you need to know:
On devices where you have the existing HBO Max app, go to the app store on your device, search for HBO Max, and choose the download option.
If you need help updating to enhanced HBO Max, go to Update HBO Max to enhanced HBO Max.
Once you've installed enhanced HBO Max, you can delete the previous HBO Max app from your device.
As well as new features like enhanced personalization and improved search, the enhanced HBO Max app includes a newly expanded library across true crime, documentaries, reality, food, family and home, plus live sports events:
- The best of HBO Max: Stream iconic series, hit movies, and more from HBO, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, and Adult Swim.
- Discovery favorites: The best real-life shows from your favorite TV brands: Discovery, TLC, and more
Here are some of the changes we made:
- Enhanced personalization and improved search
- Improved performance
- Easier to sign in and use
- Profile PIN for Adult and Kids profiles
- New Hubs and genres
Current HBO Max subscribers have access to enhanced HBO Max.
On devices where you have HBO Max installed, go to the app store on your device, search for HBO Max, and choose the download option. Once you've installed enhanced HBO Max, you can delete the previous HBO Max app.

How do I sign in to HBO Max?
You shouldn't need to sign in on devices where you had the previous HBO Max app installed, but if you do, choose Sign In and enter your HBO Max email and password.
If you subscribed to HBO Max in the past:
- Install HBO Max and sign in with your HBO Max email and password. When you do this, you'll be prompted to renew your subscription and add your payment info. For more info, go to Resubscribe to HBO Max.
If you get HBO with your internet, mobile, or TV package, you may have access to HBO Max at no extra cost. For more info, go to Do I already have access to HBO Max?
New subscribers can sign up through one of our partners or at HBO.Max.com. For more info, go to How do I subscribe to HBO Max?
Already have an HBO Max account? Sign in to HBO Max with your HBO Max email and password and then choose Renew subscription. For more info, go to Resubscribe to HBO Max.
HBO Max is available on many different devices. To find out which devices, go to HBO Max supported devices.
For a better streaming experience, update your iPhone or iPad software to the latest version. Here's how:
- Open Settings on your Apple device, then choose General > Software Update. For more information, go to Apple's Update your iPhone or iPad article.
- If you can't update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to iOS 14 or later, try switching to a different supported device for a better experience.
Your HBO Max profiles, watch history, and your settings (including parental controls) are available in enhanced HBO Max.
There are two things that don't transfer to enhanced HBO Max:
- HBO Max downloads: You'll need to download your shows and movies again with enhanced HBO Max.
- Custom profile pictures: If you had a custom profile picture in HBO Max, you'll see a generic profile icon in enhanced HBO Max (enhanced HBO Max doesn't support custom profile photos). If you'd like to choose a different profile avatar, go to Add and manage HBO Max profiles.
You can add a Profile PIN to any profile to keep other people in your household from using your profile. For more info, go to Add a Profile PIN.
Each of your profiles has a My Stuff area with your Continue Watching list and My List.
If you subscribe to HBO Max through us or an app store, your subscription price won't change for at least 60 days after the launch of enhanced HBO Max. On your next renewal date on or after July 23, your price will change to the then-current Standard plan price. We'll let you know more details closer to the change.
If you subscribed to HBO Max through an internet, mobile, or TV provider, your provider will let you know of any price or plan changes.

If you subscribed to HBO Max through an app store or directly through us (at HBOMax.com), you'll keep your current plan features and functionality. We'll let you know in advance if we need to make changes to your plan features in the future.
If you subscribed to HBO Max through an internet, mobile, or TV provider, your provider will let you know of any plan changes.
We also introduced 3 new base plans:
- Basic with Ads:
- Stream on 2 devices at once
- Full HD 1080 resolution
- Standard:
- Stream on 2 devices at once
- Full HD 1080 resolution
- Up to 30 offline downloads
- Premium:
- Stream on 4 devices at once
- Stream in 4K UHD and Dolby Atmos (as available)
- Up to 100 offline downloads (limits apply)
Channels and live content where included in any plan will contain ads. Not all content will be available on Basic with Ads. On-demand content may include sponsorship and product placement.
And we introduced a new Sports Add-On that you can add to any base plan:
- Sports Add-On* (base plan required):
- Stream Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2
- 2024 live cycling, UFC, and more
- Includes the 2024 Roland-Garros and Tour de France
*Limited to 2 of your available base plan streams
Apple-billed subscriber? If you want to watch sports on HBO Max, you can choose the Premium & Sports plan.

HBO Max and Max are currently available in select European countries and territories, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States. We plan to launch Max in more countries in 2024.
