Sign in with a provider

If this is your first time signing in and you get HBO Max through a TV, internet, or wireless provider, use these sign-in steps.

Already Have an Account?

Which device are you using?

Here's how to sign in on your phone or tablet:

  1. Open HBO Max and then tap the Profile icon (person, upper right).
  2. Tap Sign in to your account.
    If you're already signed in, tap your profile (upper right), the Settings icon (cog, upper right), and then scroll down and choose Sign Out.
  3. Tap Sign in with a Provider.
  4. Tap who you subscribe with or tap View All Providers and then choose your provider. Don't see your provider?
  5. Enter the username and password for your provider account that includes HBO Max. Can't sign in?
    Can't Verify Your Subscription
    Make sure your provider account includes access to HBO Max. To do this, see Step 2: Can't verify your subscription.
  6. On the Create Your Account screen:
    • New to HBO Max? Complete the form and then choose Create Account.
    • Already have an account? Enter your existing account email before choosing Create Account. Then, on the Account Found screen choose Verify Email Address. If you need help with this, see Account Found: Link account.
  7. Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.

Here's how to sign in on your computer:

  1. Go to HBOMax.com on your computer and choose Sign In (upper right).
    If you're already signed in, choose your profile (upper right) and then choose Sign Out.
  2. Choose Sign in with a Provider.
  3. Choose who you subscribe with or choose View All Providers and then select your provider. Don't see your provider?
  4. Enter the username and password for your provider account that includes HBO Max. Can't sign in?
    Can't Verify Your Subscription
    Make sure your provider account includes access to HBO Max. To do this, see Step 2: Can't verify your subscription.
  5. On the Create Your Account screen:
    • New to HBO Max? Complete the form and then choose Create Account.
    • Already have an account? Enter your existing account email before choosing Create Account. Then, on the Account Found screen choose Verify Email Address. If you need help with this, see Account Found: Link account.
  6. Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.

Here's how to sign in on your TV:

Have another device?
The Sign in with a provider steps are easier on your phone, tablet, or computer.
Android TV, Apple TV, PlayStation, or Roku

On your TV:

  1. Open HBO Max, choose the Profile icon (person, upper left), and then choose Sign In.

  2. Choose Sign in with a Provider.
  3. Stay on the screen with the 6-character code while you grab your phone or computer.
  4. Now, on your phone or computer:

    -or-
    Apple TV: You can use your phone's camera to scan the QR code on your TV.
  6. Enter the 6-character code from your TV and choose Next. Code not working?
  7. Choose the company you get HBO Max through. To find your provider, you may need to scroll down and choose View All Providers. My provider isn't listed
  8. Enter the username and password for your provider account. Can't sign in?
    Can't Verify Your Subscription

  9. If you're prompted to create an account:
    • New to HBO Max? Complete the form and then choose Create Account.

Go back to your TV, choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.

Samsung TV

On your Samsung TV:

  1. Open HBO Max, choose the Profile icon (person, upper left), and then choose Sign In.

  2. Stay on the screen with the 6-character code while you grab your phone or computer.
  3. Now, on your phone or computer:

On your TV device:

Troubleshooting

Code not working?

Here are some things to try:

  • Enter the code from your TV at hbomax.com/activate on your computer instead of your phone (or vice versa).
  • Try using a different web browser: Chrome, FireFox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.
  • Try clearing your browser data. Here's how:
    • iPhone or iPad: On your iOS device, go to Settings > Safari, then scroll down and tap Clear History and Website Data. To learn more, go to Clear Safari.
    • Android phone: Try clearing your Chrome browsing data on your Android device. To find out how to do this, see Clear cache & cookies.
Limited access?

This message means your provider doesn’t support HBO Max. You can still stream all of HBO. For more info, see ‘Limited access’ message.
