Change a Samsung-billed subscription

If you signed up using the HBO Max app on a Samsung TV, then your subscription is billed through Samsung.

First, confirm that your subscription is Samsung-billed:

Find my billing provider
  1. Open HBO Max or sign in to HBOMax.com on your computer. Can't sign in?
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Phone or tablet: Tap your profile (upper right), the Settings icon (cog, upper right), and then tap or scroll to Subscription.
    • TV device: Choose the Settings icon (engranaje, abajo a la izquierda), then choose Account.
    • Computer: Choose your profile (upper right), then choose Settings, and find Subscription.
      Subscription information is only available with Adult profiles.
  3. Here you can see who your subscription is billed through:
    • Samsung: See info below.
    • Another provider: Find your billing provider on this page.

Other ways to find your billing provider:

  • HBOMax.com/account: Go to HBOMax.com/account and sign in.
  • Bank statement: You can also review your bank statement for an HBO Max subscription charge. If your subscription charge lists Samsung Electronics or something similar, then your subscription is likely billed through Samsung.

How do I cancel?

Important

To avoid being charged for your next billing period, cancel your subscription at least 24 hours before your next billing date. Uninstalling the HBO Max app will not cancel your subscription.

If you're billed through Samsung, you can cancel your subscription on your Samsung TV or the web. Here's how:

Cancel via samsungcheckout.com

  1. Go to samsungcheckout.com and sign in to your Samsung account.
  2. From the Purchase History menu, choose Subscriptions.
  3. Find your HBO Max subscription and then choose Unsubscribe.

Once canceled, you should get an email from Samsung confirming your cancellation. You can continue to stream until your subscription expires at the end of your billing cycle.

When will my subscription renew?

Your first charge happens when you start your subscription. Thereafter, your subscription will auto-renew on a recurring basis until you cancel it. You pay for your subscription at the beginning of your billing period.

To find your auto-renewal date:

  1. Go to samsungcheckout.com and sign in to your Samsung account.
  2. From the Purchase History menu, choose Subscriptions.
  3. Select your HBO Max subscription and then check the Status field for your Next Payment date.

How do I change my payment method?

If you're billed through Samsung TV, here's how to change your payment method:

  1. Go to samsungcheckout.com and sign in to your Samsung account.
  2. Choose Payment Method and then Add Payment Method.
  3. Then select Credit/Debit Card and change your payment information.

How do I change my billing period?

To change your billing period, cancel your subscription and then choose a different billing period when you renew your subscription. Here's how:

  1. Cancel your subscription through Samsung TV.
  2. Wait for your subscription to expire.
  3. Once your subscription has expired, resubscribe to HBO Max on your Samsung TV and choose either monthly or yearly billing.
