How much does HBO Max cost?

HBO Max is available through many providers. Depending on your provider, you can choose from two subscription plans:

  • With Ads - $9.99/month or $99.99/year (16% savings)
  • Ad-Free - $15.99/month or $149.99/year (over 20% savings)

Your subscription will automatically renew on a recurring basis until you cancel your subscription.

  • HBO Max is a streaming service with a diverse selection of entertainment: from epic dramas to feel-good comedies, blockbuster movies to documentaries, animated favorites to reality shows, with all of HBO and new Max Originals.
  • HBO is a premium television network with culture-defining, award-winning programming. HBO is available as a premium cable TV channel or you can stream it using the HBO Max app. If you get HBO with your cable or satellite TV package, go to I have HBO. Do I get HBO Max?

What can I do?

Stream HBO shows when they air on TV

Most new HBO shows and movies are available to stream on HBO Max when they premiere on HBO (the TV channel). To find out when new episodes will premiere, go to and search for a series by name.

Stream on multiple devices at the same time

In most cases, members of your household can sign in to HBO Max on different devices, and watch different shows at the same time.

Create multiple profiles

Your account can have up to 5 profiles for the kid and adults in your immediate family or household. Profiles help you keep track of what you've watched (Continue Watching) and what you'd like to watch (My List). To learn more, see Add profiles.

Find shows and movies for kids

HBO Max has an extensive collection of Kids' shows and movies. To see what we have for kids, go to Kids & Family or in HBO Max open the Browse menu and choose Kids & Family.

You can create profiles for your kids, with parental controls that limit what can be watched and a PIN to prevent your child from switching profiles. To learn more, see Set parental controls.

Watch while traveling
