Help keep your account secure

Here are some recommendations to help keep your HBO Max account secure.

Password recommendations

Your password should be:

  • Unique to HBO Max. Don't use a password that you use with other websites or apps.
  • At least 10 characters with no more than 4 repeating characters in a row.

To help keep your HBO Max account secure, it's a good idea to periodically change your password.

Don't share your account info

Members of your household can sign in to your account and stream HBO Max on different devices. Your account email and password should not be shared with anyone outside your household.

If you think your account is being used without your permission, go to Stop unwanted use of your account.

Sign out of unused devices

Regularly review the list of devices using your account and remove devices that you no longer use or own. For more info, go to Manage your devices.

Check your account email address

Make sure your account email address is correct. This way you'll get important emails about your account—like the email we send if you need to reset your password.

Don't provide personal information

We will never send you an email asking for your personal information such as your HBO Max account password or payment information. If you receive an email from HBO Max asking for personal information, it's likely a phishing scam.
