Sign in with AT&T wireless or internet account

HBO Max is included with some AT&T wireless and internet plans. To find out which plans include HBO Max at no extra charge, see Which plans include HBO Max?

If HBO Max is included with your AT&T wireless or internet plan (or you previously subscribed to AT&T Watch TV), use the sign-in steps below.

DIRECTV, DIRECT STREAM, or AT&T U-Verse?

Step 1: Set up your plan for HBO Max

Before signing in to HBO Max, you might need to set up your plan for HBO Max.

Which AT&T plan do you have?

Unlimited Elite and Unlimited & More Premium
  1. Go to the myAT&T account page.
  2. Look for the Activate HBO Max tile.
  3. Choose Activate, if asked.
  4. Sign into HBO Max (see the next step)

If you selected another Premium in the past 12 months, you may need to wait to change to HBO Max.

Other AT&T Unlimited plan
Do you have one of these plans?
  • Unlimited Choice
  • Unlimited Choice II
  • Unlimited Enhanced Choice
  • Unlimited Plus
  • Unlimited Enhanced Plus

If so, you may need to set up your plan for HBO Max. Here's how:

  1. Go to the myAT&T account page.
  2. Look for the Activate HBO Max tile.
  3. Choose Activate, if asked.
  4. Sign in to HBO Max (see the next step).

Internet 1000
You may need to activate HBO Max before signing in to HBO Max the first time. To do this, sign in at att.com/myatt and look for the HBO Max info on your Account page, then follow the prompts to start streaming.

Step 2: Sign in to HBO Max

Which device are you using?

Here's how you sign in on your phone or tablet:

  1. Open HBO Max and then tap the Profile icon (person, upper right).
    If you're already signed in, tap your profile (upper right), the Settings icon (cog, upper right), and then scroll down and choose Sign Out.
  2. Tap Sign in to your account.
  3. Tap Sign in with a provider.
    iPhone or iPad
    If prompted, tap Don’t Allow when asked if HBO Max can use your TV provider subscription.
  4. Choose AT&T from the list of providers.
  5. Enter your AT&T user ID and password (for the AT&T account that includes access to HBO Max), and then choose Sign In. Can't sign in? Tap Forgot user ID? or Forgot password? If this doesn't help, see att.com/hbomaxhelp.
    Can't Verify Your Subscription
    • Did you set up HBO Max for our plan (see Step 1)?
    • Make sure your AT&T account includes access to HBO Max. To do this, sign in to MyAT&T or the myAT&T app, then go to your account page, and find the HBO Max tile.
    • If you still can't sign in, see att.com/hbomaxHelp.
  6. If you're prompted to create an account:
    • New to HBO Max? Edit your name and email as you'd like and then choose Create Account.
    • Already have an HBO Max account? To keep your existing profiles and watch history, enter your existing HBO Max email address and then choose Create Account. Then, on the Account Found screen choose Verify Email Address. If you need help with this, see Account Found: Link account.
  7. Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.
Link to an Existing Account
If you create a new account instead of linking to your existing account, please contact us for help.

Here's how you sign in on your computer:

  1. Go to HBOMax.com on your computer and choose Sign In (upper right).
    If you're already signed in, choose your profile (upper right) and then choose Sign Out.
  2. Choose Sign in with a Provider.
  3. Choose AT&T from the list of providers.
  4. Enter your AT&T user ID and password (for the AT&T account that includes access to HBO Max), and then choose Sign In. Can't sign in? Tap Forgot user ID? or Forgot password? If this doesn't help, see att.com/hbomaxhelp.
    Can't Verify Your Subscription
    • Did you set up HBO Max for our plan (see Step 1)?

  6. Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.

Here's how you sign in on your TV:

Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, PlayStation, or Roku

On your TV:

  1. Open HBO Max, choose the Profile icon (person, upper left) and then choose Sign In.
    If you're already signed in, see How do I sign out?
  2. Choose Sign in with a Provider.
  3. Apple TV: If prompted, choose Don’t Allow when asked if HBO Max can use your TV provider subscription.
  4. Stay on the screen with the 6-character code while you grab your phone or computer.
  5. Now, on your phone or computer:

  7. Enter the 6-character code from your TV and choose Next. Code not working?
  8. Choose AT&T as your provider.

Go back to your TV, choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.

Other TV device

Cox device, LG TV, Spectrum WorldBox, Samsung TV, VIZIO Smart TV, Xbox, XClass TV, or Xfinity device

On your TV device:

  1. Open HBO Max, choose the Profile icon (person, upper left), and then choose Sign In.
    If you're already signed in, see How do I sign out?
  2. Stay on the screen with the 6-character code while you grab your phone or computer.
  3. Now, on your phone or computer:

    Xbox console: You can use your phone's camera to scan the QR code on your TV.
  5. Enter the 6-character code from your TV and choose Next. Code not working?

Troubleshooting

Code not working?

Here are some things to try:

  • Enter the code from your TV at activate.hbomax.com on your computer instead of your phone (or vice versa).
  • Try using a different web browser: Chrome, FireFox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.
  • Try clearing your browser data. Here's how:
    • iPhone or iPad: On your iOS device, go to Settings > Safari, then scroll down and tap Clear History and Website Data. To learn more, go to Clear Safari.
    • Android phone: Try clearing your Chrome browsing data on your Android device. To find out how to do this, see Clear cache & cookies.
