Getting around the HBO Max app
To go to Home:
- TV: Scroll left and choose the Home icon (along the left edge).
- Computer: Choose the Menu icon (upper-left corner) and then choose Home.
- Phone or tablet: Tap the Home icon (along the bottom on phones and upper-left on tablets).
For You (recommendations)
'For You' is a row on the Home screen with show and movie recommendations based on what you've watched in the past (Adult profiles only). You can start watching something from this row or you can add a show or movie recommendation to My List to watch later. 'For You' is not available yet on Roku streaming devices.
If you're not sure what you want to watch, open the Browse menu:
- TV: Scroll left and choose the Browse icon (along the left edge).
- Phone, tablet, computer: Choose the Menu icon (upper-left) and then choose Browse.
Here you can browse Originals, what's new (Just Added), what's leaving soon (Last Chance), and also browse by genre (e.g. Action or Comedy). Once you choose a genre, you can narrow your results by choosing from the horizontal menu (e.g. Featured, Just Added). For example, from the Browse menu you can choose Comedy and then Series to see all comedic series.
If the active profile is a Kid profile, you can browse by age group (e.g. Ages 10-12), Just Added, Animation, or browse by Characters.
If you know what you want to watch, you can use Search. Choose the Search icon and then type a series name, a movie or episode title, a director, writer, a character, brand (e.g. HBO or DC), genre, or an actor or actress. As you type, you'll start to see matches. Search results only include series and movies that can be watched by the active profile. To learn more, see Browse and search.
Choose your profile icon to switch, add, or manage profiles. Profile is also where you can access My List, Downloads, and Continue Watching, as well as settings such as your Billing Information, Parental Controls, and your Account.
Hubs let you browse shows and movies from a single brand, e.g. Looney Tunes or Sesame Workshop. To learn more, see HBO Max Hubs.
