Find and play titles in other languages

Some HBO Max shows and movies are available in more than one language. If a show or movie is available in more than one language, you'll see a language name or button (e.g. Spanish/English) on the show or movie's description page.

International genre

Shows and movies from other countries (e.g. Europe or Latin America) are available in the International genre (open the Browse menu and then choose International). If a show or movie is available in more than one language, you'll see a language name or button (e.g. Spanish/English) on show or movie's description page. Toggle the language to your preferred language and then select play.

International HBO series and movies play with the original audio and English subtitles (no audio dubbing).

See what's available in Spanish

Spanish-language content is available in the Latino genre. To browse this genre:

  • Open the Browse menu and choose Latino. Here you'll find Latino content (A-Z), or you can narrow the list by choosing Series, Movies, or Specials.

Switch languages

Once you find something in the Latino genre, here's how to switch languages:

  • Choose what you want to watch, then toggle the language to your preferred language (e.g. English / Spanish), and then choose play.

If Spanish is displayed when you choose play, the title plays in Spanish. And if English is displayed when you choose play, the title plays in English/Spanish with English subtitles.

Find titles in Japanese

Some Crunchyroll titles and the Studio Ghibli movies are available in Japanese and English. To find titles, do either of the following:

  • Go to Hubs and choose Crunchyroll or Studio Ghibli.
  • Open search and enter 'Crunchyroll' or 'Ghibli.'

Switch languages

Here's how to switch languages:

  • Choose what you want to watch, then toggle the language button to your preferred language (Japanese / English), and then choose play.

If Japanese is displayed when you choose play, then the title plays in Japanese with English subtitles. And if English is displayed when you choose play, the title plays in English.
